Benefits of Ingredients in our Natural and Safe Kids Deodorant: SUGA

The essential oils in our natural deodorants will not only fight off body odor, but can also benefit your child’s mood and more.

Using our natural deodorant daily will go far beyond just curbing body odor. Here are all the ways your child (and your entire family) will benefit from the ingredients in our natural SUGA deodorant.

Benefits of Shea Butter

Shea butter is hydrating, can help soothe irritation and is packed with vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants. Shea butter has the power to form a protective barrier on the surface of the skin, which helps keep it moisturized for longer. It’s safe for almost all skin types and works well on sensitive skin types. It can be used to heal scars due to the presence of vitamin A and E. It has the ability to quickly penetrate the skin and soothe skin irritations like eczema and rosacea.

Benefits of Coconut Oil

Many natural hair and skin advocates are big fans of coconut oil mostly due to, but not limited to, the presence of lauric and linolenic acids.

Those with acne-prone skin can benefit from the high concentration of linolenic acids and every skin type can benefit from the antimicrobial and hydrating benefits of lauric acid. It’s highly anti-inflammatory which is great for the immune system and creates the optimal environment for healthy skin.

Believe it or not, it also has an SPF of about 8, which can help protect the skin from harmful UV rays. And, of course, it’s antibacterial, which helps fight off the bacteria that contributes to bad body and foot odor.

Benefits of Kaolin Clay

Kaolin clay is one of the best natural tricks for removing excess oil from the skin and unclogging the pores.

Both the skin under your arms and your face, chest and back can benefit from kaolin clay. It acts as a natural gentle cleanser that removes dirt and toxins from the skin that typically cause the skin to breakout.

It exfoliates the skin and gently removes impurities from wherever you choose to apply it. Many use kaolin clay to even out their skin tone by making a facial mask with kaolin clay.

Benefits of Cornstarch and Baking Soda

As you might imagine, cornstarch and baking soda further absorb any impurities, dirt or oil from the pores of the skin.

They gently exfoliate the skin, which helps remove dead skin cells and makes way for new skin cells to regenerate. Cornstarch contains Vitamins A, B1, and B2 which aid in fighting off fungus under the arms, around the feet and anywhere else one may develop fungus.

Baking soda can help relieve sunburn because of its cooling effect on the skin. Because of it’s high alkaline level, it can neutralize the acidic environment bacteria just loves. When mixed with coconut oil it’s less drying, especially for those with sensitive skin types. If your skin gets irritated from using deodorant with baking soda we always recommend applying aloe vera or coconut oil to soothe the irritation. Some of us take time getting used to the more alkaline or acidic ingredients.

Benefits of Candelilla Wax

Candelilla wax is probably the least known ingredient in our natural deodorants. Unless of course you're a connoisseur of natural cosmetics. Candelila wax, like beeswax, helps the skin retain its moisture, especially when paired with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter. It’s also frequently used in hair products because it's great for treating dry scalp.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

The beauty behind ACV is partly in its acetic and citric acid. Acetic acid is antifungal and antimicrobial which can help clear infections, yeast, acne, rosacea, and eczema.

Citric acid on the other hand is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), which encourages skin cell turnover for healthy looking and feeling skin.

ACV however, is a very potent and acidic ingredient and when used for the skin or hair should be diluted and mixed carefully to avoid skin or scalp irritation.

ACV is commonly used to get rid of unpleasant odors, from your underarms all the way to your dirty clothes and counters. It’s a chemical-free solution that will effectively kill off bacteria and when paired with the right essential oils, won’t leave behind a vinegary scent.

Benefits of Zinc Oxide

Zinc oxide can be used to treat acne, wounds or skin irritations. It’s the most common ingredient used to protect the skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, for all skin types, and will prevent the skin from producing excess oil, which clogs pores and creates breakouts.

Zinc oxide is a natural mineral that reduces or eliminates the production of odor-causing bacteria under the arms and around the feet.

Benefits of Grapefruit Essential Oil

Not only do we love the citrusy smell of grapefruit oil but it also contains useful purifying properties. The limonene in grapefruit essential oil is believed to be a natural mood enhancer, and can help relieve anxiety. It’s a detoxifier, promotes healthy circulation and can help cleanse and clarify the scalp.

Benefits of Lemon Essential oil

Similar to Grapefruit essential oil, lemon essential oil has calming and detoxifying properties. It's astringent and antiseptic properties help restore the skin and remove signs of acne or blackheads. It’s scent can remove mental fatigue, help with dizziness, anxiety or nervousness. It is believed to increase concentration and elevate one’s mood, helps fight off diseases by increasing the production of white blood cells, and can help alleviate asthma. Lemon essential oil, paired with grapefruit essential oil should eliminate the smell of ACV when used together in natural cosmetics or natural cleaning products.

Benefits of Lemongrass Essential oil

Lemongrass essential oil can be used to alleviate headaches, improve the skin by supporting skin health, and can have a calming effect when one feels under stress. It can lower one’s blood pressure, can reduce muscle pain and cramping, and calms stomach issues.

It contains antiseptic and astringent properties which can help liven up one’s complexion and tone the skin. It’s believed to regulate blood sugar levels, but more research needs to be done on that end. It is typically used in skincare, haircare and aromatherapy because of all of it’s boosting benefits over both the body and mind.

Now do you see how our SUGA deodorant goes far and wide over your chemical deodorants? Not only will our deodorants eliminate odor, but they will also promote healthy skin and a healthy mood. Yes please!
